What To Expect From Your Dental Checkup
Although some dental issues noticeably and unexpectedly spring up, others can quietly develop gradually. Weakened tooth enamel or slightly inflamed gums are not always something you’ll spot yourself, but they are reversible problems that we will.
This is why we advise that you visit us every six months for a dental checkup. If we spot an issue, early intervention will save your smile.
Often, we catch problems before you need treatment. If we do, we can advise and support you in making the changes needed to prevent problems from worsening.
But it’s not just the signs of tooth decay and gum disease we look for. We also screen for oral cancer. Many of the symptoms of oral cancer are easily ignored, so routine checkups help us spot them sooner.
During your routine checkup, we’ll look at your teeth and gums. We may also take X-rays as this lets us see any changes beneath the surface of your smile.

Cavities and Fillings
Bacteria is ever-present in our mouths, but that doesn’t mean it has to cause harm. Good oral hygiene and a balanced diet can help you keep bad bacteria at bay. However, exposure to bacteria can erode the surfaces of your teeth. Small holes can develop called cavities.
Tooth decay causes sensitivity, toothache, and bad breath. Untreated, these cavities become a gateway for bacteria to enter and infect your teeth, causing worse pain and further damage. A filling is a simple procedure to repair your damaged tooth.
At Dental Aesthetica, we use high-quality materials to fill cavities. Before your procedure, we’ll provide you with an anaesthetic to ensure comfort. The process is short, and nobody will even spot our subtle repair work.

In addition to routine checkups, we recommend regular hygiene appointments. During a session with our hygienist, you’ll receive a deep, professional clean, leaving your smile sparkling and fresh.
Hygiene treatments remove tartar, the hard yellow or brown coating that can feel like a blight on your smile. We use techniques like ‘scale and polish’ to gently cut through the unwanted tartar and reveal the natural beauty of your smile.
